Azusa Pacific University Senior Session at the Santa Barbara Court House

Being the photographer that everyone knows means getting brought in to witness each new stage of life. Bethany and I were close friends throughout high school but ended up going to different colleges. One of my favorite memories was from our photography elective in high school when we convinced our parents that we needed to go to Disneyland on a school day to get our homework done. Now Bethany has graduated from Azusa Pacific University as a labor and delivery nurse and I’m a photographer, who would have thunk.

Doing sessions within the city of Santa Barbara can always be a little tricky due to the direction of the sunset. Clients entrust me with their images because they like my style and the way I use light is a huge part of that. Since the sun always sets over the city itself the right light can be hard to access. Either you have to shoot earlier in the day when the light isn’t as warm or the buildings of the city block the light. For Bethany’s session as the sun went down we headed to the top of the parking structure next to the court house and found just what we were hoping for.
